Abstract
This article analyzes the essence of the modern assessment system in education, its differences from traditional evaluation methods, and its importance in the learning process. Modern assessment approaches are distinguished by their focus not only on measuring students’ knowledge but also on evaluating their competencies, critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and practical knowledge. The article also highlights the effectiveness of formative and summative assessment, rating systems, portfolios, self-assessment, and digital technologies in evaluation
