Abstract

This thesis analyzes the mythopoetic nature of marvelous objects found in folk epics, as well as their artistic, aesthetic, and symbolic functions. It examines magical weapons, rings, swords, mirrors, horse equipment, enchanted objects, and other supernatural items depicted in epics, highlighting their connections with the fate of the hero, plot development, and mythological thought. Marvelous objects are interpreted not merely as artistic details, but as mythopoetic symbols expressing the ancient worldview, beliefs, and perceptions of people concerning good and evil, protection, power, trials, and salvation. The thesis also demonstrates the role of these images in the hero’s epic journey, including their contribution to shaping the hero’s passage through trials, achievement of goals, and interaction with supernatural forces. The study analyzes the archaic mythological layers of marvelous objects in folk epics and their artistic transformation based on comparative-typological and mythopoetic approaches.
