Abstract

Lassa fever is an infectious disease caused by the Lassa virus and is mainly endemic in West African countries. Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Mali are considered the most affected endemic regions. This article provides detailed information about the laboratory diagnostic methods of the Lassa virus, including serological, molecular, and immunological techniques. Methods such as RT-PCR, ELISA, immunofluorescence assay, and virus cultivation in cell cultures are widely used for virus detection. In addition, the importance of preventive measures and biosafety requirements is emphasized.
