Abstract
This thesis explores the theoretical foundations of a comparative-poetic study of modern English and Uzbek children’s literature for preschool-age audiences. Age-specific readership is interpreted as an internal organizing factor of children’s literature poetics, and criteria are proposed for the comparative analysis of genre, plot and composition, the system of characters, rhythm, repetition, and verbal-visual relationships.
