Abstract
This article explores the theory of poetics, its formation as a concept, and the principles of its historical development. Beginning with Aristotle’s foundational work Poetics, the paper conducts a comparative-analytical study of views by Horace, Eastern thinkers (Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina), Russian literary scholars (V. Zhirmunsky, B. Tomashevsky, and the Formalist school), as well as contemporary Uzbek literary critics. The article scientifically examines narrow and broad definitions of poetics, the harmony of form and content in artistic works, the evolution of poetic thinking, and its impact on the spiritual growth of society.
