Abstract

This article analyzes the role of temporal semantics in linguistics, its theoretical foundations, and modern research directions. Temporal semantics is considered an important linguistic field that studies the expression of temporal relations through language units. The research examines the grammatical, lexical, and semantic means of expressing temporality in English and Uzbek languages. In addition, the functional features of the category of time in speech, tense forms, and context-related aspects are highlighted. The article also discusses current issues in the study of temporal semantics, including the expression of temporal meanings in translation processes, cross-linguistic differences, and the importance of cognitive approaches. The results of the study demonstrate the theoretical and practical significance of temporal semantics.
