Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between nominal GDP, GDP per capita, and the real quality of life of citizens. Data from 20 countries, including developed (USA, Norway, Denmark) and developing (India, Brazil, China) nations, are analyzed. It is shown that high GDP does not guarantee high levels of happiness, HDI, or GPI. Regional differences, social policies, and environmental sustainability are considered as key factors affecting well-being. A comprehensive approach using HDI, GPI, and the happiness index is proposed to assess quality of life.
