Abstract
Pediatric eczema (atopic dermatitis) remains one of the most significant challenges in pediatric dermatology. This article reviews current concepts regarding the multifactorial pathogenesis of the disease, including genetically determined defects of the epidermal barrier and alterations in the composition of the skin microbiome. The results of a clinical study evaluating the effectiveness of a comprehensive therapeutic approach combining topical anti-inflammatory agents with modern emollients enriched with prebiotic components are presented. The findings demonstrate that restoration of the skin’s microbial balance and prolonged moisturization significantly reduce the frequency of disease relapses and improve patients’ quality of life.
