Abstract
The aim of the study was to evaluate the state of renal function in patients with subclinical and manifest hypothyroidism.
Material and methods of the study. The study included 40 patients aged 42 to 60 years, including 19 men with an average age of 47.3 ± 3.5 years and 21 women with an average age of 44.6 ± 3.8 years. The control group consisted of 20 healthy individuals. Patients were divided into 2 groups: Group 1 - patients with subclinical hypothyroidism - 20 people, Group 2 - patients with manifest hypothyroidism - 20 patients.
The research methods were general clinical, biochemical (bilirubin, direct, indirect, ALT, AST, PTI, etc.), hormonal (free thyroxine, free triiodothyronine, TSH, antibodies to rTSH), anthropometric calculations (height (cm), weight (kg), BMI (kg/m2), WC, HC) and instrumental: ECG, thyroid ultrasound, chest x-ray.
Research results. Patients in both groups had predominantly symptoms of cerebrovascular insufficiency, indicating dysfunction of the central nervous system. They were most pronounced in group 2 of patients with overt hypothyroidism. There was significant differences between the clinical parameters of both groups. Moreover, the most pronounced disorders were found in patients with overt hypothyroidism (p< 0.05). Thus, in this group, the average values of BMI, WC, SBP, DBP were significantly higher, and the pulse rate was lower. The same trend was revealed in the study of biochemical and hormonal parameters.
Conclusions. 1. The most pronounced renal dysfunction was found in patients with overt hypothyroidism. 2. When analyzing data from 40 patients, we found that nine patients (22.5%) were diagnosed with stage 1-3 CKD before treatment, and they were found among patients with overt hypothyroidism.
