Abstract
This article examines one of the most complex and tragic periods in the history of the twentieth century — political repression, its impact on the people of Uzbekistan, and the place of the victims of repression in the country’s historical heritage. During the Soviet era, thousands of our compatriots were persecuted, imprisoned, exiled, or sentenced to death on the basis of political and fabricated accusations. In particular, the policy of repression reached its most brutal stage during 1937–1938.
