Abstract
Developing children’s legal awareness and legal culture is important for helping them grow into individuals who understand their rights and responsibilities and respect the law. This article examines the legal and pedagogical foundations for developing children’s legal awareness within preschool and school education. It also proposes the author’s “Law Start” programme, designed to introduce legal knowledge progressively from preschool through Grade 11 while taking children’s age-related characteristics into account. The article discusses how animated materials, interactive activities, and modern educational technologies may be used to strengthen children’s legal literacy. The proposed approach aims to develop age-appropriate legal understanding, help children recognise their own rights, and encourage respect for the rights and interests of others.
