Abstract

In the context of modern globalization, improving the effectiveness of foreign language teaching has become one of the most important educational challenges. This article comprehensively analyzes the theoretical foundations of the communicative approach, its practical effectiveness, and the opportunities for expanding its potential through the integration of digital technologies. The communicative approach views language primarily as a tool for active communication and focuses on developing learners’ communicative competence. Unlike traditional grammar-based methods, it prioritizes activities and tasks based on real-life situations and authentic communication. Digital technologies—including interactive learning platforms, artificial intelligence-based applications, virtual reality tools, and online collaborative environments—provide new opportunities to make the communicative approach more effective, engaging, and adaptable. Based on empirical research findings, international experiences, and applications within the context of Uzbekistan, the article examines the advantages, challenges, and future prospects of digital integration in the development of communicative competence. The study concludes that combining modern digital tools with the communicative approach is one of the most effective ways to improve the quality of foreign language education, enhance learner motivation, and develop practical language skills required for real-world communication.
