Abstract

This article examines the system of images in the poetry of two prominent representatives of classical Turkic literature, Magtymguly Pyragy and Yunus Emre, from a comparative-typological perspective. The study identifies the artistic and semantic characteristics of such images as the lyrical hero, lover, beloved, human being, spiritual guide (pir-murshid), dervish, ascetic (zahid), rind, the world, nature, the path, and light in the works of both poets. It substantiates that the common typological foundations of these images are associated with Islamic Sufism, spiritual perfection, divine love, overcoming the ego (nafs), attaining truth, and the concept of the Perfect Human Being. At the same time, the images created by Magtymguly demonstrate a relatively stronger expression of Turkmen national thought, socio-ethical issues, the fate of the people, and patriotic spirit, whereas the images in Yunus Emre’s poetry embody the ideas of humanism, universal love, spiritual purification, and closeness to the Divine through a simple, folk-oriented lyrical expression rich in inner emotional experiences. The article interprets the typological commonalities and national-individual differences between the two poets as an integral poetic system.
