Abstract
This article examines the Jadid movement, which emerged in the Emirate of Bukhara in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on its formation, core areas of activity, and historical significance. The author analyzes the efforts of the Jadids to reform the educational system, establish "new-method" (Usul-i Jadid) schools, and develop the national press and underground organizations within the complex socio-political climate of the Emirate. The paper highlights the intellectual and political struggle led by prominent figures of Bukhara Jadidism, such as Abdurauf Fitrat, Fayzulla Khojaev, and Sadriddin Ayni, as well as the attempts of the "Young Bukharans" party to fundamentally reform the emirate's governance. Based on historical sources, the study evaluates the role of the Bukhara Jadid movement in shaping national identity and early ideas of independence.
