Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of mortality and disability worldwide. In acute ischemic stroke, time is a critical factor, and early diagnosis significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment and improves patient outcomes. Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DWI MRI) is considered one of the most sensitive imaging techniques for the early detection of acute cerebral ischemia in modern neuroradiology. DWI enables visualization of ischemic changes within minutes after the onset of symptoms, allowing timely therapeutic interventions. This article reviews the physical principles, diagnostic capabilities, advantages, and clinical significance of DWI MRI in the early diagnosis of stroke.
