Abstract
This article analyzes the role and significance of geoinformation technologies in forecasting mudflows and floods. It examines the possibilities of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing technologies, satellite data, and digital elevation models to prevent mudflows and floods, which are among the most common hydrological hazards. In addition, based on the experience of the United States, Japan, China, and European countries, the effectiveness of geoinformation technologies in emergency management systems is evaluated. The research findings indicate that the use of GIS technologies significantly enhances the ability to predict the risks of mudflows and floods, reduce the extent of damage, and support rapid decision-making.
