Abstract

This article examines the impact of authentic materials on learners’ language competence in English language education. The study focuses on how authentic resources such as newspapers, videos, podcasts, social media content, and real-life documents contribute to the development of learners’ linguistic, communicative, and sociocultural competence. It also explores how these materials enhance vocabulary acquisition, grammar awareness, listening and reading comprehension, and speaking fluency. The findings suggest that authentic materials significantly improve learners’ overall language competence by providing meaningful exposure to real-life language use and encouraging active, learner-centered participation.
