Abstract
This article examines the economic essence of purchasing power and real wages, their relationship and differences. The importance of these indicators in assessing the living standards of the population is highlighted. The study also discusses why these concepts are often confused in society and the consequences of such misunderstanding using practical examples. The findings indicate that purchasing power depends on the general price level, while real wages reflect the combined impact of employee income and price changes.
